Emergency and hospital medicine services staffing companies Schumacher Group (“SG”) and Hospital Physician Partners (“HPP”) have completed their merger, resulting in a combined presence in 29 states across 358 hospitals, and caring for nearly 6 million patients a year.
The merger was completed in partnership with investment partner, Onex, HPP’s co-founders, Dr. David Schillinger and Jeffrey Schillinger, and SG.
“We’ve always had tremendous respect for HPP. They’ve been our competitor for many years and we share their dedication to medical excellence,” said Rich D’Amaro, chief executive officer of SG. “We are excited to welcome the HPP team into the SG family and look forward to building on their solid reputation to ultimately benefit the millions of patients we serve in communities across the nation,” he added.
“HPP and Schumacher Group are both rooted by innovative, patient-focused care, with a deep commitment to quality,” said Jeffrey Schillinger, new SG president (and former HPP Chief Executive Officer). “We look forward to this new chapter in our respective companies’ histories where we will complement – not compete – in today’s dynamically changing healthcare environment,” he further remarked.
